It was not however until Victorian times that the present day custom evolved to that of giving a sixpence as a lucky charm to bring wealth and happiness to the married couple.</div><div><br /><em>"...when the bride is completely ready to make her way from her home, she would take the sixpence from the bag on her garter and place it in her left shoe. She would walk a full circle and at the same time make a wish for her wealth. She would then take the sixpence out of the shoe and replace it in the bag. She must never look back but continue to walk through the door to marry her husband-to-be ..."</em></div><div><br />I currently have over 100 sixpences ranging from 1945 - 1967 and I am in the process of designing both a small bag that can be attached to a garter (as per the true tradition) and a foolproof way of attaching the sixpences to the bridal shoe, so WATCH THIS SPACE!! </div><div></div><div>In the meantime if you want a sixpence from a particular year or you want it presented in a certain way then please do not hesitate to contact me I am sure we can accomodate!!</div><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sf74Ik7moKI/AAAAAAAAALo/x7BqwjNCk_8/s1600-h/Coins.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5331971835089559714" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 303px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sf74Ik7moKI/AAAAAAAAALo/x7BqwjNCk_8/s400/Coins.jpg" border="0" /></a></div>My Wedding Partyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15987713403944083334noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7909723210650671304.post-56754972569182801872009-04-28T08:51:00.000-07:002009-04-28T09:06:26.688-07:00Without Mystery, Magic Disappears - II<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sfco4YcAsVI/AAAAAAAAALg/ovL0stswvYI/s1600-h/Rose+Necklace+and+Earings.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329773633113993554" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 303px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sfco4YcAsVI/AAAAAAAAALg/ovL0stswvYI/s400/Rose+Necklace+and+Earings.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sfco4dtw1TI/AAAAAAAAALY/DCPOWOPTUyw/s1600-h/Diamante+Necklace+and+Earings.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329773634530628914" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 303px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sfco4dtw1TI/AAAAAAAAALY/DCPOWOPTUyw/s400/Diamante+Necklace+and+Earings.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /></div><div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sfco4TWnVhI/AAAAAAAAALQ/7zADmmoC9B8/s1600-h/Black+Bracelet+and+Necklace.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329773631749182994" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 303px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sfco4TWnVhI/AAAAAAAAALQ/7zADmmoC9B8/s400/Black+Bracelet+and+Necklace.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /></div><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SfcmY9ujUII/AAAAAAAAAKo/o1hH7v9aanQ/s1600-h/Black+Bracelet+and+Necklace.jpg"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div>My Wedding Partyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15987713403944083334noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7909723210650671304.post-86161120746477876652009-04-19T10:18:00.001-07:002009-04-28T08:54:27.206-07:00Without Mystery, Magic Disappears - I<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Set4flYxNEI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/0CxVPGPf4gI/s1600-h/Picture6.png"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326483468303021122" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 263px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Set4flYxNEI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/0CxVPGPf4gI/s400/Picture6.png" border="0" /></a>I've not been about lately, so my poor blog has been neglected! I tell you what though not having a computer doesn’t half free up some time, time which I have used to catch up on my housework. My washing and ironing is up to date, the floors and windows have been washed and I’ve even had dinner on the table for when hubby gets home from work everyday, he thinks it’s Christmas!!<br /><br />Anyway, I’m very excited because I have just had a parcel delivered and it’s all the bits I ordered last week to get cracking on some new jewellery. I’ve ordered everything to make some earings, necklaces and bracelets; I have also ordered a silver chain for a stunning pendant I found at a flea market. I have cleaned the pendant up and managed to find some matching earings in an antique shop, so I am very excited to make a proper set out of it!! As you can tell with all the exclamation marks I am very excited about it all so WATCH THE SPACE!!<br /><br />Finally, above is the newest tiara I have added to my collection; it has a lovely 1950’s diamante brooch on the right hand side and the band is covered with diamantes. When it is on you will not believe how much it *twinkles* and *sparkles* it is truly stunning.</div><br /><div></div><div>One day I will get my hair done up nice and I will model the tiara's so you can see what they look like on!</div>My Wedding Partyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15987713403944083334noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7909723210650671304.post-60991495103343538912009-03-23T07:59:00.000-07:002009-03-23T09:29:25.720-07:00It's Spring (nearly)With the anticipation of Spring and having enjoyed a lovely week of sunshine, I donned my flipflops, sat in the garden and got designing....<br /><div></div><br /><div><strong>Forget Me Not</strong></div><br /><div>Bespoke tiara with a beautiful <a href="http://www.coalport.co.uk/">Coalport</a> Primrose and Forget Me Not china brooch. We got chatting and she mentioned she could do with a hand in her bridal shop on a weekend and after I finished jumping up and down shouting 'Me Me Me' we seriously talked about it, and...<br /><br />...I started yesterday!!<br /><br />I had a fabulous day chatting away to brides helping them into amasing dresses, I even made a sale!! I sold a lovely lady her perfect wedding dress and veil, she looked stunning and we even had a few tears. I can't believe how much I enjoyed it and I got a huge amount of satisfaction from helping a bride find the perfect dress.<br /><br />The name of the shop is <a href="http://www.elysebridal.co.uk/">Elyse Bridal</a> and it is on the Wellingborough Road in Northampton. That is why on a fortnightly basis I am going to feature a picture board of photo's from a real wedding. </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify">I hope you get some wonderful ideas from this and if you do use any of the ideas I would love to hear from you!</div><br />Mr & Mrs *Flowerfairy* - <strong>The Wizard of Oz Wedding </strong><br /><strong><br /><br /></strong><strong></strong><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313798371167785410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 302px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sb5ndwGBUcI/AAAAAAAAAGo/FmDxInxUd_k/s400/Complete+Picture.png" border="0" /> I especially love the centerpieces...<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313798876038203474" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 304px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/Sb5n7I4giFI/AAAAAAAAAGw/9cclzhJVQSY/s400/Tin+Man.jpg" border="0" /><em><span style="font-size:85%;">I love vintage clothing and jewellery so it was natural for me to go with the vintage feel for my dress etc The rest just fell into place really! I wanted to create a make-believe feel for the day and hang on to the imagination I had as a child. It is so easy to get bogged down with real life as an adult that we tend to forget how <strong>magical</strong> things can be, so using the 'The Wizard of Oz' theme for my tables was the obvious solution!! I LOVE the Wizard of Oz and it reminds me of my childhood, unfortuanately both my parents are no longer here so it reminded me of them too. My husband loved the idea so I was given "permission" to go ahead! All of our guests had fond memories of the film and we tried to seat guests on appropriate tables i.e. two of Pauls workmates are about 5' 6" so naturally they went on the munchkin table! (ha ha) Guests were all trying to work out the relevance of why they were sat where they were. I did have to out the Wicked Witch though as I didnt trust myself! :-) The top table was of course the Emerald City! <strong>Mrs Flowerfairy</strong></span></em> <p>What a FANTASTIC and unique idea for a wedding, it really illustrated the bride and grooms personality and captured the imagination of the guests. Who doesn't love 'The Wizard of Oz?'</p>My Wedding Partyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15987713403944083334noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7909723210650671304.post-43595736432669497492009-03-15T08:23:00.001-07:002009-03-15T15:39:22.619-07:00New DesignsEvening All,<br /><br /><div><div>I've had a lovely day today and with the weather being so nice me, hubby and our son managed to sit in the garden of our local pub and have a wonderful leisurely Sunday lunch, it must be nearly spring! </div><div> </div><div></div><div>I've then spent the rest of my Sunday crafting!!! So here it is...<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbWhJf-CYlI/AAAAAAAAAFY/14SDISP5Hng/s1600-h/Chocolate+1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311328520125964882" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 242px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbWhJf-CYlI/AAAAAAAAAFY/14SDISP5Hng/s320/Chocolate+1.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbWhJomFLNI/AAAAAAAAAFg/7O6L-Bp1i8E/s1600-h/Chocolate+2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5311328522441403602" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 242px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbWhJomFLNI/AAAAAAAAAFg/7O6L-Bp1i8E/s320/Chocolate+2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />A selection of her favourite truffles, including white chocolate with lemon, milk chocolate and hazelnut, bitter milk chocolate and milk chocolate coated in white chocolate.<br /><br />Hubby just pinched one and said, and I quote, 'there better than the ones we buy in Brugge' So I am really pleased, especially as this is my first ever attempt at making truffles! I don't know why I haven't made them before as I had so much fun, especially the cleaning up afterwards (I didn't lick the bowl I promise).<br /><br />Anyway when I was putting it all together it made me think how nice it would be as a centerpiece at a wedding. One of these in the center of each table, maybe on a mirror plate or a piece of vintage lace with drapped pearls and vintage bits and bobs dotted around!<br /><br />When I got married I actually had a 'Chocolate Themed' wedding and I wished I had thought of this then! For those who are interesed my 'Chocolate Theme' included...<br /><ul><li>Hot Chocolate & Baileys as a welcome drink</li><li>Chocolate favours</li><li>A Chocolate Shop (instead of a cake)</li></ul><p>I'll show you the pictures some time! </p><p>x</p>My Wedding Partyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15987713403944083334noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7909723210650671304.post-42510411471591521772009-03-08T14:16:00.000-07:002009-03-08T14:27:32.247-07:00I Dare You To Wear...After spending the morning doing my housework - boring!! - I decided to relax this afternoon with my wire and beads and get creative!! And below is what I came up with. I guess it is a bit unusual as a bridal tiara and probably something only a daring bride would wear...<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbQ2q1eXT3I/AAAAAAAAAEw/vGL3204UuMk/s1600-h/Charcoal+Tiara.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310929970113498994" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 242px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbQ2q1eXT3I/AAAAAAAAAEw/vGL3204UuMk/s320/Charcoal+Tiara.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><strong>Bespoke Vintage Tiara</strong> with a lovely 1950's AB crystal brooch. (It shines blue in the photo but in reality it catches different colours in different lights) The tiara is lined with vintage charcoal pearls taken from a broken necklace and swarovski AB crystals entwined around the pearls.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbQ2vYUzRlI/AAAAAAAAAFA/SlqKBnbhUIY/s1600-h/Charcoal+Tiara+2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310930048188106322" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 242px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbQ2vYUzRlI/AAAAAAAAAFA/SlqKBnbhUIY/s320/Charcoal+Tiara+2.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qU_23rttdDY/SbQ2rEIpbzI/AAAAAAAAAE4/7c2Uf-0IYsA/s1600-h/Royal+Doulton.jpg"></a>My Wedding Partyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15987713403944083334noreply@blogger.com1
